What We Do

From the forests and lakes of Hastings County to the wetlands, farmland and Lake Ontario shorelines of Prince Edward County, this is a remarkable place — rich in nature, wildlife, history and community.

The Hastings Prince Edward Land Trust works to protect the lands and waters that give this region its character and sustain the life within it. We bring together landowners, volunteers, donors and community partners to conserve important natural areas, working landscapes and places of cultural significance.

Every acre protected helps keep forests connected, wetlands healthy, shorelines natural and wildlife thriving. It also preserves the landscapes that shape our communities and our sense of home.

By protecting special places today and caring for them for the long term, we are helping ensure that the natural and cultural heritage of Hastings and Prince Edward Counties endures for generations to come.
